SIMPLE WEEKLY CLEANING SCHEDULE

FOR STAY AT HOME MOMS

🖤

What’s Included In This Simple Weekly Cleaning Schedule

In this post I’m sharing:

  • My quick daily reset routine
  • My Monday through Friday cleaning schedule
  • What I clean in each area
  • A few simple cleaning tools that make this routine easier

This routine is simple and realistic for moms who want to get out of a rut and stop feeling like they are falling behind on cleaning.

Daily Reset Routine

Not every day at home with kids goes as planned. Some days I just don’t have the energy to get my scheduled tasks done. But I can commit to 15 minutes every night to make the next morning go a lot smoother.

My simple daily reset routine is:

Load Dishwasher
Quick Toy Pickup
Wipe Kitchen Counters
One Load of Laundry

These are small tasks that make the biggest difference in how our day goes.

Mom Tip

Don’t stress about completing every task every week. Focus on the most important ones to you, and consider the rest a bonus.

What I Do If I Miss A Cleaning Day

I definitely do not complete every single task perfectly every week, and I don’t try to. If I miss a day, I usually just move on and pick back up with the next day’s task. I’ve found that trying to “catch up” on everything at once usually just makes cleaning feel more overwhelming.

If all I get done is my daily reset and one or two main cleaning tasks, I still consider that a win.

How I Make This Cleaning Routine Work With a Toddler and a Baby

Cleaning with kids at home looks very different than cleaning in a quiet house, so I try to keep my expectations realistic. Most of the time, I end up doing these tasks in small pockets of time throughout the day instead of all at once.

A few things that help me are:

  • Doing quick tasks while the kids are occupied nearby (See my Toddler Activities post)
  • Saving certain cleaning jobs for nap time or bedtime
  • Focusing on progress instead of trying to make everything perfect
  • Keeping my cleaning supplies easy to grab so I can move quickly when I do have the time

This routine works best for me because it is simple enough to fit into real life.

Favorite Cleaning Tools That Make This Routine Easier

I’ve found that having a few simple tools I actually use every week makes this routine feel so much easier. These are a few of my favorite cleaning tools that help me stay on top of everyday messes without overcomplicating things.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ok, maybe not ‘frequently asked’, but in case you are wondering, here ya go!

How long should a weekly cleaning task take?

I try to keep each day’s main cleaning tasks fairly short and manageable, 20 minutes or less.

What if I miss a day?

If I miss a day, I usually just move on and start again with the next day’s task. I try not to turn it into a catch-up day unless I really want to.

Do I have to follow these exact days?

Not at all. You can switch the days around based on your own schedule and the areas of your home that need the most attention.

Final Thoughts

Keeping a clean home as a stay at home mom does not have to mean spending your whole weekend cleaning. For me, having a simple weekly cleaning schedule makes it easier to stay on top of the basics without feeling overwhelmed.

This routine is not about doing everything perfectly. It is just a simple way to keep the house feeling more manageable during a busy season of life.
